About Our School
Cañon Elementary is located in the southwestern section of Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is just east of beautiful Cheyenne Canon and Seven Falls. Cañon has 272 students and is a kindergarten through sixth grade elementary school.
Cañon Elementary was built in 1954 on a site which was once a wildlife refuge. The first classes, six in all, were moved into half of the building on February 22, 1954. On March 22, 1954 the remainder of the grades, kindergarten through fourth grade were moved into the building. We still enjoy the sounds and beauty of Cheyenne Creek, squirrels chattering, and birds chirping on our playgrounds. Cañon was remodeled in 1996. It now has sixteen classrooms, a multi-use room, gym, media center, special services department, counselor's office, conference room and principal's office.
