Fifth Grade
Homework - Be the Chief of Your Own Success!!!
See below for supply list.
Homework is assigned most week nights, and occasionally even over a long weekend.
However, assigning homework encompasses many factors. Did the student successfully complete today's lesson outcome? Does the student completely understand the standard from today's lesson?
For these reasons homework is a fluid component of our everyday instruction.
The students are responsible for recording their homework daily in their planners. If a student is absent he/she will have additional time to complete assigned homework once he/she returns to class.
Regular fifth grade expectations are that students read and journal a minimum of 20 minutes each night, at least 4 days a week. They should also journal 5 minutes about what they've read. Thes journals are usually collected or checked weekly by the teacher. Spelling assignments are given on weekly basis, too. Daily assignments also include math, occasionally reading sheets, and making progress on special projects as assigned. Your child's daily planner should include more detail; enough so that they can remember the specific pages or requirements of an assignment given for practice or completion.
If you think your child is having trouble completing homework, or not writing an adequate amount of information in his or her planner, please let me know. To find out the current day's homework you may email me or call the classroom. Detailed information on how to do this is located on the "info" page.
