Today we took the Ch. 2 & 3 math test. For students who would like to retake the test I will provide tutoring next week after school on Monday (10/27), Wednesday (10/29), and Thursday (10/30). The retake will be on Thursday (10/30) afterschool. I am also available in the mornings from 7:30 -8 a.m.

Even teachers make mistakes. I seem to have underestimated the amount of time last night's homework would take many of the students. Thanks you so much for your imput and patients. I can now see that we will need to spend more time than I anticipated on some of these topics. Students have another evening to complete the packet from last evening. I am also available in the mornings to help with homework by 7:30 (aside from the random morning meeting). I will always be flexable in my plans and curriculum map to help your children succeed. Social Studies: Globe Project Due OCTOBER 16th!!
Dear Sixth Graders!
We will launch the Geography Unit in Social Studies with a student-made globe project. Each student is required to brainstorm and find any materials he or she will use to make a globe that accurately represents Earth. The globe will be assessed on the following criteria:
*it must be as round as possible
*label the four major oceans
*label the seven continents
*label the prime meridian and international date line
*label the equator
*label the north and south poles
*Label Colorado Springs, CO
Showing areas that may include mountains, the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, countries or more latitude and longitude degrees, would show a higher level of effort which would be considered in the final grade.
The following Characteristics will be graded:
Accuracy
Spelling
Capitalization (only cap. the first letter of names, don't label in all caps)
Neatness
Effort/Creativity (overall appearance, and materials used)
Keep in mind items you may already have at home. Originality and uniqueness will weigh more than monetary value.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON YOUR GLOBE!
ALL GLOBES ARE DUE AT SCHOOL ON OCTOBER 16TH. LATE GLOBES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!
All students have a grading rubric that contains more detail on grading criteria.
