General Information
Practice Logs: Our bands are making great progress, but I think with a bit more focus on practice we can sound even better. With this in mind, starting Monday, October 29th, we will begin using practice logs for band. These will kept in students’ folders, and students will use them to keep track of how many minutes they practice each week. I will ask students to practice four times each week for 20 minutes. Parents will be asked to sign their student’s log each week. I will be discussing effective practice methods in class to ensure that students know what they should be doing during practice time, and I have also included “Mr. Margrave’s Practice Method” in this mailing for your convenience.
Grades: Students will not be receiving a grade for band for first quarter. However, I will be using a combination of practice logs, rate of improvement in band, and class participation to assign students grades for second quarter.
Concerts: Save these dates! Our concerts this year will be all be at 7pm at your student’s school.
Canon: December 18th (4th, 5th, and 6th grade)
May 12th (5th and 6th grade)
May 14th (4th grade and 3rd grade recorder ensemble)
CME: December 12th (4th, 5th, and 6th grade)
May 7th (4th grade and 3rd grade recorder ensemble)
