*The Writing grade this quarter will consist mainly of three creative writing fictional stories, one being a fairy tale for a first grade buddy, that are of no designated length or topic.  Each story will be graded on a scale of 1-5. The criteria for a 5 is:
Setting: Includes time, place, mood, and makes you feel like you are there
Characters: Grow and change during the story, connect with the reader so the reader "knows" them
Plot: A sequence of events that happen in order and lead one into the other to bring the reader to the climax (the do-do in Jaws as the shark is coming)
Climax: The highest point of conflict in the story, with the greatest action, emotion, event happening. Confronts the problem head on and should be very easy to identify.
Resolution: All parts of the story are tied up and leave the reader with a sense on completion.  A clear ending to the story with very little questions left unanswered.
Theme: Why did the author write this story?  What is the point?  Doesn't have to be lesson to learn, but should be vey clear as to the purpose of the story.
