General Information
Physical Education at Gold Camp Elementary is a special class where every student will
have a safe, supportive and challenging place to learn healthy lifelong physical activities
and sports. The development of social skills is important as well. Students are expected
to work, play and have fun together, while respecting the differences amongst one
another. The ultimate goal in Physical Education is to develop basic skills and knowledge of
sport and fitness, that will guide each individual towards a happy and more productive
future.
Shoes: We REQUIRE the correct type of shoe to be worn to participate in Physical
Education. Tennis shoes provide support and flexibility for our physical activities. This does
NOT include hiking boots, sports sandals (Tevas or Crocs), Merrils, or “slip on” tennis shoes.
Students who do not have the correct shoe will be sitting out of class or participating in an
alternative activity if applicable. Gold Camp students will have PE every other day, so
please help your student be prepared for class.
Sportsmanship: Everybody is a winner in their class even if the score does not show it.
We encourage all students to participate fairly and support everyone’s effort. We will
achieve together and stick together.
Behavior: Students should come to class ready to learn and participate no matter what
the activity is planned. This includes using their listening skills, following directions, and
keeping hands/feet to self at all times. We need to keep a safe and respectful environment in order for all students to learn and have fun!
Medical Excuses: If your student needs to be excused from PE due to an injury or illness,
please send a note or e-mail me with their limitations or doctor’s restrictions.
We will be going outside as much as possible. Students may bring or wear:
- water bottle
- wear sunscreen
- hat to wear outside ONLY
- sweatshirt or jacket on cooler, especially for the early fall/spring mornings and
sometimes later in the afternoons!!!
I encourage wearing clothes they can move in and feel comfortable in a coed environment on PE days!!! 5th and 6th Grade Girls and Boys will have an opportunity to change out for PE.
Grades
Grades will be deteremined by their sportsmanship, behavior, and effort in class. I expect
every student to come to my class ready to learn and participate in every activity.
