Curriculum Includes:
Reading
• Text: Scott Foresman, levels 1.1 - 1.6 We use the text, thematically, and integrate the content areas of social studies and science.
In addition to independent reading.
Spelling
• Weekly spelling lists focus on word families related to basal plus dictation.
Handwriting
• Handwriting skills in D'Nealian manuscript will be taught and practiced through daily writing and workbook activities.
Writing
• We incorporate 6 trait and Step Up to Writing components.
Science and Social Studies
• We are using a kit based science on solids and liquids, organisms, and air & weather. In addition, a unit is taught on space.
• Social Studies units include the exploration of where we live and work with communities and holidays.
Math Concepts
• Read and write numbers to 100
• Fractions 1/4, 1/2
• Identify and know value of coins
• Counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's
• Ordinal #'s through ten
• Graphs
• Basic operations: adding and subtracting
• Measurement and time
• Shapes
• Problem solving
Technology
• We integrate software programs, as much as possible, in all content areas.
