Homework
Homework is assigned almost every Monday through Thursday in first grade (no homework is given on the weekends.) Students should have approximately 15 minutes of homework each night. Spelling lists are given on the first day of the week. Please study these words nightly. Phonics readers are sent home periodically for the students to practice reading. In addition, please listen to/read to your child nightly. There are also beneficial activities that can be completed at home, with or without help from parents or older siblings. Some of these activities include reading, practice on math skills, etc.
Please discuss work missed due to illness, travel, etc. with the teacher to avoid gaps in learning.
