I can also be reached via e-mail. In an efffort to control spam, staff e-mail addresses are not published on our websites, but it is listed in the the school directory, and is available on request if you don't already have it.
General Information
Speech therapy services are available to children at Pinon Valley Elementary from preschool through sixth grade and cover a wide scope of practice. The following areas are examples of such services:
Articulation/Phonology: age appropriate correct sound production
Fluency: stuttering
Language: vocabulary, verbal expression, language concept understanding and use in both production and understanding.
Pre-Literacy Support: Classroom and small group instruction is provided to children in their pre-literacy years with focus on phonemic awareness and phonological awareness.
If you suspect your child may be experiencing difficulties in any of the areas noted above, please feel free to contact your teacher or myself and I will gladly conduct a screening.
Most children served by a speech therapist are on an individual education plan (IEP) though services can also be rendered as part of the response to intervention program the district offers which usually entails short term guest services, separate from an IEP. All services are conducted with prior approval and knowledge of parents.
Grades
Quarterly progress notes will be provided to parents along with an annual meeting to review current plan of treatment and progress towards goals.
